Work Space

It's so hard to get back in the swing of things after such a nice vacation. All I want to do is be back out on the lake, soaking up the sun. But alas, my job awaits me and work is piling up. Blah! But it was a very successful fishing trip... I ended up catching the biggest fish! I couldn't believe it! 38 1/2 inch Northern Pike. Un-freaking-believable.



Remember our home office that I've been decorating? It's coming along nicely! Here's a little sneak peek:

I bought the rug this week. It's a 3x5 jute rug - smaller than I had originally planned, but with the scale of the room and the small furniture, I think it works. And the price was a no-brainer... only $24.99 at T.J.Maxx. I just love that store! I painted some bookshelves for the room yesterday, and came up with some other great ideas that require a few more shopping trips. Once it's complete, I'll post pictures!

I've got a busy weekend ahead, so you may not hear from me until next week. My little brother is graduating, my dad is turning 50, and we're camping with Jesse's family. I love full weekends. :)

Gone Fishin'

Jesse and I are leaving for a Minnesota fishing trip with his family tomorrow, so I thought I would make one last post before I go! This is just a little project I did this week. I bought a little pink clock for 7 bucks at T.J.Maxx a while back. The shape of it was so cute, I couldn't pass it up... even though it was hot pink. But a quick coat of paint fixed that problem in no time!

Dream Home

I've been ignoring this blog for awhile, for various reasons. Too busy, or just lack of ideas are a couple of them. But no worries, I'm still alive!

I was browsing around Country Living's site today and came across Nancy Fishelson's home. I had to keep myself from drooling as I looked through the pictures of her bright and cozy California farmhouse. Can I live here, please?!












I'm dying to put something above the mantel here. A big wall clock or rustic wood mirror would be nice.

Vanilla... or Butter Pecan?

Who knew that picking out a simple white paint color could be so stinkin' hard! I have a shelving unit that I've been wanting to paint off-white, so I took a trip to the hardware store to pick up a quart of paint. I sure didn't anticipate spending a good half hour shuffling through paint samples, trying to find my perfect shade of white. I just stood and stared at the sea of white for awhile, not knowing where to begin. But, after thumbing through what seemed like millions of shades (most of which had names that made my mouth water... Butter Pecan, Lemon Chiffon, Milkyway and Vanilla Ice Cream), I found what will hopefully be my perfect white.

Benjamin Moore's Mannequin Cream. Not the tastiest of paint names, but a perfect creamy off-white. I haven't painted with it yet. Actually, I have yet to even open the can. But I'll tackle the task sometime this week. I've been under the weather for the past 3 or 4 days, so I haven't been able to get much done.
